Dynamic. That is the way I describe myself and the way I work. I believe I embody Perfetti's culture because we are both energetic, highly productive, motivated, passionate, creative, and are always seeking ways to improve and grow. My passion is to do new and interesting things, create, and experiment. For over 11 years, Perfetti has empowered my passion through continuous learning, early and significant responsibilities, open and supportive collaboration opportunities, and a culture that values integrity, trust, and freedom.
When people ask me where I work, they sometimes don't recognize the name Perfetti van Melle at first. But, when they realize that I work for the company that makes Mentos, Alpenliebe, Center Fresh, and Center Fruit, they always get excited and smile. I am proud to work for a company that is so well respected and loved throughout the world. In fact, the affection for the company and brands often rubs off on me too; people, especially kids, sometimes like me just because I make confectionery. This is one of the sweetest parts of my job.
When I first started working at Perfetti I was surprised by the opportunity to immediately contribute to my team. Over the past 11 years with Perfetti, I learned the value of working with very intelligent and enthusiastic colleagues, and that through teamwork the process of discovering solutions to challenging problems and implementing new ideas is fun, exciting, and effective.
Perfetti's motto "Always innovating what confectionary can do" is the DNA of our company and the guiding principle of our teams. I believe that innovation is not only developing new products but also improving and creating better processes, services, technologies, and business practices. To me, innovation means taking a long-term view, engaging in continuous learning, and looking toward the future. I particularly like that ideas and suggestions are encouraged and taken forward for implementation. My managers also help foster our culture of innovation because they are receptive and supportive of change and help me develop new ideas. In fact, the best advice I've ever received was from my manager who encouraged me to take a risk and accept the challenge to relocate to Bangladesh. This move has been the most personally and professionally rewarding experience to date. In every position at Perfetti I am trusted and respected to actively explore new ideas. This has given me a sense of personal ownership and pride in the innovations I and my team have had implemented. It has also kept me very busy and constantly challenged.
I cherish many memories of my 11 years at Perfetti. My colleagues are not just great teammates... they are my best friends. The people of Perfetti are warm, welcoming, and kind. Thousands of kilometers from my home, my new Perfetti community has become a part of my extended family. I have terrific mentors and managers who support and guide me both professionally and personally. Opportunities to live and visit foreign countries and experience different cultures and challenges have enriched and strengthened my life and the lives of my family who have accompanied me. There is a real sense of caring for all us at Perfetti, and this deep caring comes from directly from the Perfetti family who owns and directs our company.
